The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced on the 22nd that it will conduct guidance and supervision on whether workers are given rest for more than 20 minutes every 2 hours during high heat work starting from June 23.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor will supervise compliance with the 'five basic safety rules for extreme heat' focusing on high-risk workplaces such as construction, shipbuilding, and logistics until September 30. The five safety rules for extreme heat are ▲Water ▲Wind and shade ▲Rest ▲Cooling equipment ▲Emergency devices.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor has decided to particularly examine whether the rule of 'providing rest for more than 20 minutes every 2 hours' is being followed.
Previously, the Ministry of Employment and Labor operated a voluntary improvement period for three weeks from the 2nd to the 20th. Moving forward, measures will be taken to improve any deficiencies through industrial safety supervision.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Employment and Labor stated that it has appropriated 15 billion won in this supplementary budget proposal to prepare for extreme heat. If the budget proposal passes the National Assembly, it plans to provide preventive equipment against heat-related illnesses, such as mobile air conditioners, for vulnerable workers at business sites with fewer than 50 employees.
