New Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety Kim Min-jae.

Kim Min-jae, who led the 'Local Era' initiative under the administration of Yoon Suk-yeol, has been appointed as the Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

He was appointed as Deputy Minister on Nov. 30, 2023. The position of Deputy Minister at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety was established in September of the same year due to an organizational restructuring. His main responsibilities include assisting the Minister and Vice Minister with matters related to local administration, decentralization, and balanced development.

The new Vice Minister, Kim, from Hongcheon, Gangwon Province, entered public service as a 38th class administrative exam graduate. He has served as a protocol officer, director of local administrative policy, and Deputy Minister for Planning and Coordination at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. Internally, he is regarded as a 'local administration policy expert.'
