Starting from the 28th, the base fare for subways in the Seoul metropolitan area, including Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon, will be 1,550 won. This is an increase of 150 won from the previous fare of 1,400 won.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 19th that the subway base fare will be increased starting from the first train on the 28th.

The fare for a transportation card will be 1,550 won for adults (an increase of 150 won), 900 won for teens (an increase of 100 won), and 550 won for children (an increase of 50 won).

For cash, the fares will be 1,650 won for adults and teens (an increase of 150 won), and 550 won for children (an increase of 50 won).

The Seoul Metropolitan Government previously decided to raise subway fares by a total of 300 won in two increments of 150 won each in 2023. The first increase was implemented on Oct. 7, 2023, and the remaining increase will take effect this time.

A representative from the Seoul Metropolitan Government noted, "While the increase for adult fares is 150 won, the rates for teens and children will be slightly increased, maintaining the existing discount ratio compared to regular fares."
