Seoul City has reported two employees accused of embezzling business funds to go on overseas trips to the police.
On the 18th, Seoul City announced that it reported A, a Director in the Global City Policy Department, and B, an employee, to Namdaemun Police Station on suspicion of embezzlement.
A and B are known to be in charge of Seoul City's international development cooperation (ODA) tasks. They are accused of using approximately 50 million won of unutilized budget for personal expenses. It is also reported that they used the embezzled expenses for overseas trips.
Seoul City received tips about these embezzlement allegations internally and conducted its own audit. Following the audit, it confirmed the misconduct.
A Seoul City official noted, "The audit committee requested disciplinary action, leading to the suspension of the two individuals from their positions."
