The Ministry of Employment and Labor and police are conducting searches at the SPC Samlip headquarters and the office of the factory in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province, following the worker fatality incident.

The Employment Ministry's Seongnam branch and Siheung police deployed about 80 investigators, including occupational safety inspectors responsible for investigating major industrial accidents, to SPC Samlip's bread production plant from 9 a.m. today regarding the worker entrapment incident that occurred on the 19th of last month.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor and police are securing evidence to prove violations of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the Serious Accidents Punishment Act, and negligent homicide in the course of work. In particular, they plan to examine whether safety measures were properly implemented during maintenance work, such as lubricant application.

An official from the Ministry of Employment and Labor noted, “Based on the evidence secured from this search, we will thoroughly investigate whether the safety and health management system to prevent worker entrapment incidents is properly established at corporations.” They added, “If legal violations are confirmed, we plan to take strict action.”
