Former President Yoon Suk-yeol appeared in court on the morning of the 16th for his seventh trial regarding the charge of being the leader of a rebellion. This is the first time since the appointment of the 'three special prosecutors' to investigate the rebellion, Kim Keon-hee, and the deceased Marine incident.
On that day, around 10 a.m., former President Yoon arrived at the Seoul Central District Court's West Building in a navy suit and purple tie. After arriving by car, he walked to the courtroom. Since the court allowed no underground access since the third trial, former President Yoon passed through the photo line.
However, former President Yoon did not respond to reporters' questions such as, 'What do you think about the appointment of Special Prosecutor Cho Eun-seok?' and 'Will you comply if summoned for questioning by the special prosecutor?' Special Prosecutor Cho (19th Judicial Research and Training Institute) served as chief prosecutor of the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office when former President Yoon (23rd) was the head of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office. They also worked together at the Supreme Public Prosecutors' Office, although they were affiliated with different departments.
Previously, during the trial on the 9th, former President Yoon entered and exited the court entrance a total of four times but did not answer any questions from reporters.
Meanwhile, the 25th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court (presided over by Director General Ji Gwi-yeon) will hold the seventh trial date regarding the charge of being the leader of a rebellion against former President Yoon starting at 10:15 a.m. in courtroom 417.
