A driver without a license, who killed two people while driving under the influence, claimed they were forced to drive by a deceased passenger.

According to the Namdong Police Station in Incheon on the 14th, a man in his 20s, identified as A (24), who was charged with aggravated homicide due to reckless driving under the Specific Crime Aggravated Punishment Act and driving under the influence and without a license under the Road Traffic Act, stated during police questioning that he had no choice but to drive the vehicle due to pressure to do so.

A is accused of driving under the influence on the road in Guwol-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon, on the 8th of last month, where he crashed into an oncoming sports utility vehicle (SUV), causing the deaths of passenger B and C, the 60-year-old female driver of the SUV.

A claimed during the police investigation that the person who pressured him to drive was B, the passenger in his 20s who died in the accident. It was found that he drove a Benz sedan borrowed from an acquaintance without having insurance.

A, who had previously been caught for drunk driving and was in a license suspension period, drank again and drove without a license. A blood test conducted by the National Forensic Service revealed that A's blood alcohol concentration at the time of the accident was over 0.08%, which is the threshold for license revocation.

The police stated, "We are verifying the facts of A’s claim that he drove under pressure based on nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and other evidence," and added, "We will consider whether to apply for an arrest warrant while looking at A's health condition."

Meanwhile, C, the driver of the victimized vehicle, is reported to have met with the accident while on his way to pick up his son, a soldier returning from leave, from a military base. It is known that C's family urged the police during the investigation to impose severe penalties on A.
