A suspect who wrote derogatory graffiti about singer BoA has been arrested by the police in various locations throughout Seoul.

The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul stated on the 13th that they had summoned a woman in her 30s, referred to as A, at around 10:30 p.m. on the 12th for property damage and defamation and are investigating the motive and circumstances of the crime.

A is suspected of having written derogatory graffiti at about 10 public transportation stops and electronic billboards in the Gangnam, Gwangjin, and Gangdong districts of Seoul. The police reported that they identified and captured the suspect by tracking surveillance cameras (CCTV).

Earlier, a media outlet released footage on the 5th showing the suspect writing derogatory graffiti about BoA in the streets of Gangnam. The suspect, who was carrying a handbag and had short hair, stopped in the middle of the street, took out a pen, and wrote graffiti. Even when passersby looked at her, she did not stop. Fans reported the incident to the police, district office, and her agency, SM Entertainment, and then erased the graffiti themselves.

SM, which reported the suspect to the police, stated, "Acts that defame the character and honor of our artists by posting false information, as well as acts intended to maliciously criticize the artist, are clearly criminal acts," adding, "We will respond firmly to these criminal acts without any leniency and according to principle."
