A man believed to be a civilian has been found to have damaged barbed wire at a military base in Gwangmyeong City and subsequently intruded, prompting relevant authorities to pursue him.

According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff and others on the 13th, it was confirmed that around 7:30 a.m. that day, an unidentified man damaged the outer barbed wire at an ammunition battalion in Gwangmyeong City and intruded.

After the military identified the unlawful entry via CCTV and issued a warning broadcast, the man disappeared. The Joint Chiefs believe the suspect fled outside the base in surprise at the warning broadcast.

Based on CCTV footage showing the suspect's appearance around the base, the military reports that there is little evidence of any national security concerns. The damaged outer barbed wire is located about 250 meters from the armory, and no evidence was found that the suspect approached the armory or that any ammunition was missing.

The military is tracking the suspect's movements in cooperation with the police. Gwangmyeong City issued a disaster text around 11:52 a.m. that day, stating, "Circumstances of intrusion into military facilities have been detected, and anyone who finds a suspect is encouraged to report it to the nearby police station."

Gwangmyeong City reported that the suspect was dressed in a gray hat, navy short-sleeve shirt, digital wristband, and black long pants, and was carrying an eco-bag.
