On the 13th, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon met with Jerome Golder (91), an American who fought in the Korean War, to present him with an honorary citizenship certificate.

According to the city of Seoul, Golder participated in the Korean War as a 17-year-old in 1951, serving in the U.S. Army during the Battle of Hill 487. He visited Korea after 74 years to attend an exhibition titled "Project Soldier: In Search of Korean War Veterans" marking the 75th anniversary of the Korean War.

Mayor Oh said, "It is very touching and an honor that you came to visit the Republic of Korea, which you helped during your youth, on your first overseas trip after the Korean War. I congratulate you on becoming an honorary citizen of Seoul and express infinite gratitude on behalf of the citizens of Seoul."

In response, Golder said, "Seeing the children playing peacefully by the Han River, I thought this is evidence of freedom. It is an honor to have contributed to the history of the Republic of Korea, which has developed this way from ruins, and I will cherish this memory for the rest of my life."
