Police are investigating a YouTuber who made comments indicating an intention to carry out a gun terror attack against President Lee Jae-myung, who was a candidate for the Democratic Party of Korea in the last presidential election.
According to police on the 11th, the Jongno Police Station in Seoul received a report via 112 that YouTuber A had been preparing for a gun terror attack during the presidential election period and began an investigation.
On the 7th, A participated in a rally supporting former President Yoon Seok-youl, who was dismissed, and while conducting a live YouTube broadcast, he made comments suggesting, "Before the election, we need to assassinate candidate Lee Jae-myung. Talk to an American and ask them to send a gun."
B, an intelligence officer from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency who was present at the scene, reportedly heard the comments but did not take any action against A. It is understood that police believe that A's sudden extreme remarks made it difficult to respond appropriately.
