As the heat of this summer has officially begun, the Ministry of Employment and Labor noted that "workers must be given a rest of more than 20 minutes every 2 hours during heatwave work."

On the 11th, the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency stated that they will intensively check whether the 'five basic rules for heatwave safety' are being followed at high-risk business sites such as construction, shipbuilding, and logistics. They also mentioned that, starting from the 23rd, they will take strict action against establishments that violate the basic heatwave rules.

Earlier, on the 8th, the first heatwave impact forecast of the year was issued at the 'interest' level for nine cities and counties in North Gyeongsang and South Gyeongsang provinces, as well as North Chungcheong province. On the 9th and 10th, the areas under the interest level were expanded. The heatwave impact forecast operates in four stages: interest, caution, warning, and danger, and is considered at the interest level when the temperature is expected to remain above 31 degrees Celsius for more than two days.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Employment and Labor plans to respond to the recent continuous incidents of entrapment occurring alongside the heatwave. They decided to conduct field inspections primarily focused on high-risk sectors such as machinery, where the risk of fatal entrapment accidents is high, and metal manufacturing.
