The police have launched an investigation into Jeong Jin-seok, former chief of staff to the president, because a civic group has reported him for allegedly instructing the destruction of a computer at the Yongsan Presidential Office.

According to the police on the 11th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has recently assigned the case to the anti-corruption investigation unit. The police plan to book and investigate Jeong and others following the receipt of the complaint.

On the 7th, the civic group People's Solidarity for the Eradication of Corruption reported former chief of staff Jeong and former secretary Yoon Jae-soon to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on charges of ▲ abuse of power ▲ obstruction of official duties ▲ damage to public property. They claim that the former chief of staff and others deliberately avoided the transfer of presidential office duties and illegally instructed the destruction of computers, office supplies, and documents, thereby obstructing the normal operation of the new government.

In response, personnel from the presidential office of the Yoon Seok-youl administration stated that they took legal measures regarding the maintenance of the computers in accordance with relevant laws.
