YouTuber 'Omnivore Dinosaur' (real name Wang Hyun-soo), who stirred controversy with a post belittling the Jeonnam region, has delivered a donation to the May 18 Memorial Foundation, but the foundation has refused the donation and initiated a return procedure.

On the 11th, the foundation sent an email to YouTuber 'Omnivore Dinosaur' (real name Wang Hyun-soo) and stated that it has begun the return procedure for the donation of 5 million won.

The foundation noted, "This donation was deemed a means to evade responsibility for the social controversy it caused rather than a sincere intention to honor the values of May 18."

The foundation explained that while it has confirmed that Omnivore Dinosaur received the email, there has been no response yet and the return procedure has not progressed.

Omnivore Dinosaur, a YouTuber introducing local delicacies, sparked controversy on the 6th when he posted a photo of the 21st presidential election results from the Jeonnam region on his social media. The post received a series of belittling comments from internet users, and Omnivore Dinosaur reposted an image capturing these comments, stating, "I don't want to learn Chinese, I don't want to buy BYD stocks, I don't want to shout 'China number one.'"

When an internet user commented, "Why belittle Jeolla-do?" he replied, "Are you from (Jeolla) do? Looks like you’ve been scratched?"

As the controversy grew, Omnivore Dinosaur posted on the YouTube community stating, "I sincerely apologize," along with a photo showing he sponsored 5 million won to the May 18 Memorial Foundation. However, the foundation refused to accept the donation, stating it does not align with the original purpose of the donation, and initiated the return procedure.
