Former President Yoon Suk-yeol's side has expressed its intention to refuse the police summons scheduled for the 12th.

Yoon's attorney, Yun Gap-geun, is reported to be submitting an opinion statement to the National Police Agency on the 11th, stating on the 10th that he will undergo a written investigation as the summons investigation is unnecessary. The opinion statement is also expected to include comprehensive opinions regarding the matters under investigation by the police.

Former President Yoon is facing charges of obstructing the execution of special public duties after directing the presidential security service in January to prevent his arrest. He is also charged with abuse of authority under the Presidential Security Service Act for ordering the security service to delete information related to military commanders’ secure phones four days after the martial law on December 7 last year.

Yoon's attorney claimed after the conclusion of the sixth trial session on charges of insurrection leadership against the former president that "the charges of obstructing special public duties cannot establish criminal facts. There was no legitimate execution of public duties, and the president was not involved in the direction to prevent his arrest." He also denies the factual basis for the charge regarding the deletion order of secure phone information.

The police had requested former President Yoon to appear on the 5th of last month, but his side refused. Consequently, the police sent a second summons requiring him to appear for investigation on the 12th. Typically, if a suspect refuses to appear more than three times without reasonable cause, the investigative agency applies for an arrest warrant. If former President Yoon refuses the third summons as well, it is anticipated that the police will seek to secure his New Recruit.
