In relation to the results of the 21st presidential election, President Lee Jae-myung apologized for a post made by a YouTuber introducing famous restaurants that contained derogatory remarks about the Jeonnam region.
According to the May 18 Memorial Foundation and others on the 7th, the YouTuber known as 'Jabsikgongryong' (real name Wang Hyun-soo), who introduces famous restaurants nationwide, posted on his YouTube the previous day, saying, "There were derogatory expressions about the region and politically biased content in the post I made, and I sincerely apologize for causing discomfort to many people."
The YouTuber Jabsikgongryong, with 170,000 subscribers, posted a photo related to the voting results of the presidential election concerning a specific area in Jeonnam on his social media (account) the previous day.
Netizens flooded the comments of this post with derogatory remarks towards the Jeonnam region, and Jabsikgongryong also raised controversy by posting again a photo of content that belittled the Jeonnam area.
Along with the apology post, Jabsikgongryong also uploaded a photo of his payment history showing a donation of 5 million won to the May 18 Memorial Foundation. He continued, "Just because I donate does not mean that my mistakes are erased, and I will clearly keep that in mind as well," apologizing.
