The city of Geoje in South Gyeongsang Province will restore the birthplace of former President Moon Jae-in.

According to the city of Geoje on the 5th, the city announced a compensation plan for the restoration project of the former President's birthplace on the 26th of last month. The location is the birthplace site at 694-1 Myeongjin-ri, Geoje-myeon, along with adjacent plots 694-2 and 694-6, totaling 953 square meters.

The plot for the birthplace and the two adjacent plots have different owners. The city plans to discuss compensation with the owners after conducting an appraisal and determining the compensation amount. Once the compensation process is completed, the city plans to reflect this in the revised budget for the second half of the year.

The city reportedly stated that, regarding this compensation plan announcement, it has initiated the purchasing process for the two adjacent plots that recently became available, unrelated to political reasons.

However, the restoration project for the birthplace of former President Moon Jae-in is still in the planning stage without specific details. The city intends to restore the birthplace for use as a tourism resource in the long term.
