Minister Park Seong-jae said on the 4th after his resignation was accepted, "I hope for true national unity and the realization of substantive rule of law and democracy for all citizens."
On the same day at around 6:45 p.m., Minister Park, leaving the Ministry of Justice building in Gwacheon, answered reporters, "I have nothing to say because I have not received personnel orders," but added, "I hope for the realization of the true national unity for all citizens and substantive rule of law and democracy mentioned by the new president."
He continued, "I will also do my best for the citizens and the country from outside. Thank you for your support during this time."
Earlier, all members of the Cabinet, including Minister Park, expressed their intention to resign to President Lee Jae-myung. President Lee accepted only Minister Park's resignation and rejected the others.
The Ministry of Justice plans for Deputy Minister Kim Seok-woo to act as Minister as soon as the resignation process, including personnel orders, for Minister Park is underway.
Minister Park was impeached by the Democratic Party in December of last year on charges of colluding in rebellion. The Constitutional Court unanimously dismissed the impeachment motion in April and he returned to work. After about two months, he expressed his intention to resign.
