The police have initiated a compulsory investigation into the conservative-leaning group 'ReBox School', which is suspected of manipulating comments.
The Cyber Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency reported on the 4th that they have prohibited Son Hyo-sook, the head of ReBox School, from leaving the country. They also stated that they are conducting a search of the group's office located in Jongno-gu that afternoon.
To investigate the ReBox School case, the police have formed a dedicated investigation team of 20 members, including the head of the Cyber Investigation Division.
The Democratic Party of Korea filed a complaint with the police on the 31st of last month for violations of the Public Official Election Act and obstruction of work related to computers, and the police conducted an investigation of the complainant on the 1st.
ReBox School is suspected of conducting a comment manipulation operation to support a specific presidential candidate while denigrating other candidates, using the issuance of a private qualification (Level 1 Creative Experience Activity Instructor) that allows them to serve as instructors at elementary school Nulbom schools as bait.
