The police will issue a Code Red alert nationwide from 6 a.m. on the 3rd, when the main vote for the 21st presidential election is held. A Code Red alert is the highest level of emergency and will halt police leave, enabling 100% of available police forces to be mobilized.
The police expect that around noon on the 4th, the National Election Commission will deliver the certificate of election to the president-elect, and then transfer the presidential security duties to the Presidential Security Service.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency will deploy 10,800 officers to 4,574 polling and counting stations in the Seoul area. In 2,260 polling stations in Seoul, 4,500 officers will be deployed to enhance nearby patrols, and 4,500 armed police will support the return of early voting ballots, main voting ballots, and absentee ballots.
About 1,200 personnel will be deployed at 25 counting stations, with approximately 50 people at each. Additionally, mobile units will be stationed in four districts, including Mapo, Dongdaemun, Yeongdeungpo, and Gangnam, to maintain order until the counting is complete.
