The decision on whether to detain a 60-year-old election officer accused of proxy voting under her husband's name will be made on the 1st, the first day of early voting for the 21st presidential election.
Around 2 p.m. that day, Judge Yeom Hye-soo of the Seoul Central District Court will conduct a pre-trial examination of the warrant for the election worker surnamed Park, who is facing charges of violating the Public Official Election Act.
Park is reportedly a contract employee at the public health center in Gangnam District, Seoul. He was appointed as an election officer ahead of this presidential election and was responsible for issuing ballots to voters.
Park is suspected of having issued a ballot using her husband's identification card at an early voting site in Daechi 2-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul, on the 29th of last month, and then voting herself with her own identification card about five hours later.
