Oh Se-hoon, the mayor of Seoul, swam a 1km section of the Han River on the 30th to check the water quality.
On that day, Mayor Oh visited Ttukseom Han River Park, where the '2nd Relaxing Han River Triathlon Festival' was being held, to inspect the water quality and facilities. This was his second consecutive day of checking the site after the previous day.
On that day, Mayor Oh jumped into the Han River and swam from the south end of the Jamsil weir to the Ttukseom Water Safety Education Center, covering a distance of 1km. He wore a safety buoy that he personally wrote, saying, 'Come to the Han River, perfect for swimming, the water quality is fantastic!' while crossing the river.
After completing the 1km swim, Mayor Oh said, 'The water quality of the Han River that I just crossed is unbelievably clean, so please feel free to participate in the event and create wonderful memories by swimming in the Han River,' and added, 'In addition to participating in the events, we will also hold various programs and sports competitions where you can directly enjoy the clean Han River, so I hope you spend a special time with your family and friends at the Han River this weekend.'
The Relaxing Han River Triathlon Festival will be held at Ttukseom Han River Park until June 1. Participants can complete swimming, cycling, and running at their own pace and style, without any ranking or record competition.
Mayor Oh said, 'In the future, we will continue to hold various festivals to ensure that not only citizens but also foreigners can have unique experiences and activities at the Han River, making it an attractive space that represents Seoul.'
