Acting Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety Ko on the 28th issued an urgent directive regarding the fire at a neighborhood living facility in Jung-gu, Seoul, saying, "Make every effort in rescue and firefighting."
Acting Minister Ko noted, "Relevant agencies, including the Korean National Police Agency, the Seoul Metropolitan Government, and Jung-gu, should mobilize all available personnel and equipment, and prepare for proactive evacuation of residents in case of concerns about expansion to nearby areas."
He urged, "Please do your best to ensure that no safety accidents occur during the firefighting process," and added, "The police should control the area around the fire scene."
Earlier, at around 3:25 p.m. on the same day, a report was received indicating that a fire had occurred in an aging commercial building in Sanrim-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul. The fire department issued a Level 1 response at 3:58 p.m. due to concerns about the fire spreading, and elevated it to Level 2 at 4:37 p.m. Currently, one person has been transported to the hospital after inhaling smoke.
