Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Lee Ju-ho said on the 28th, "This year marks the 80th anniversary of liberation, which is also a history of division and the pain of separated families."

The Deputy Prime Minister made this remark while attending a comfort event for separated families held that afternoon at the Coreana Cosmetics Hotel in Seoul.

The event targeted about 100 separated family members who have not met in person among those residing in Seoul. The Ministry of Unification has been promoting such events regionally every year since 2008. The aim is to comfort families separated by division and to foster social consensus on the issues faced by separated families.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted, "As the separated families age, it is necessary for the younger generations of separated families to understand and overcome the pain of division and separation," and added, "We will dream of a unified future and uphold the wishes of the separated families."
