Actor Hwang Jung-eum has concluded her divorce lawsuit with businessman Lee Young-don, a former professional golfer. The decision to seize the real estate, made at the request of her ex-husband, is also expected to be lifted.
According to Hwang Jung-eum's agency Y1 Entertainment, as of the 26th, her divorce lawsuit has been amicably concluded following a family court's mediation decision. As a result, the divorce has been formally established.
Y1 Entertainment noted, "Additionally, regarding the real estate seizure reported on the 23rd, both parties engaged in property preservation actions against each other during the process of dividing their joint assets in the divorce lawsuit. This is a situation that can typically arise during divorce proceedings. With the lawsuit now concluded, this seizure is expected to be lifted."
They continued, "We sincerely apologize for not being able to provide detailed explanations due to the timing of the news right before the lawsuit concluded. We genuinely regret any distress caused during the actor's personal divorce process and will do our best to quickly resolve any remaining legal matters related to Hwang Jung-eum's personal corporation."
Hwang Jung-eum married Lee in 2016 and has two sons. After initiating divorce proceedings in 2020, they dramatically reconciled, but last February, she filed for divorce again, claiming her husband was unfaithful.
Earlier, it was reported that Lee Young-don, Hwang Jung-eum's ex-husband, who runs a steel processing and sales company called Geoeam Core, filed a lawsuit against her on March 27 for the return of a lending amounting to 157 million won. Additionally, Geoeam Core submitted an additional claim for real estate seizure on April 17, and the court granted the claim on April 30.
Meanwhile, Hwang Jung-eum has acknowledged charges of embezzling public funds from a family corporation to invest in cryptocurrency and is currently in the process of repaying a significant portion of the embezzled amount.
