The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 23rd that the number of voters for the 21st presidential election stands at 44,391,871 based on the date of confirmation of the voter list. This is an increase of 194,179 from the 20th presidential election in 2022 and 111,860 from the 22nd National Assembly election last year.
Among them, the number of domestic voters is 44,133,617, while 258,254 are overseas absentee voters and expatriates exercising their voting rights.
Among all voters, women comprise 50.5% and men 49.5%. By age group, those in their 50s (19.6%) accounted for the largest share, followed by ▲60s (17.7%) ▲40s (17.2%) ▲70 and above (15.4%) ▲30s (14.9%), while those aged 18-19 (2%) had the smallest proportion, with 20s (13.1%) next.
Regionally, voters from Gyeonggi Province (26.4%) were the largest group. They were followed by ▲Seoul (18.7%) ▲Busan (6.5%) ▲Gyeongnam (6.2%) ▲Incheon (5.9%) ▲Gyeongbuk (5%) ▲Daegu (4.6%) ▲Chungnam (4.1%) ▲Jeonnam (3.5%) ▲Jeonbuk (3.4%) ▲Chungbuk (3.1%) ▲Gangwon (3%) ▲Daejeon (2.8%) ▲Gwangju (2.7%) ▲Ulsan (2.1%) ▲Jeju (1.3%) ▲Sejong (0.7%).
Voters can check their voter registration number and polling place through information guides sent by mail or via the website of their city, county, or district office. They can participate in the election at nationwide early voting locations on the upcoming Thursday and Friday, the 29th and 30th, and at designated polling places on election day, June 3.
