A story about a Coupang delivery driver receiving a return request for 80 bundles of water close to 1 ton has sparked controversy.
On the 23rd, a post by a delivery driver stating that a return of water close to 1 ton was received was shared on social media (SNS).
A person identified as a Coupang delivery driver, Mr. A, said, “Today, a total of 80 bundles of 2-liter water, 6 per bundle, were returned from one household. It was so unprecedented that I couldn’t believe it. Just to be sure, I contacted the customer and confirmed it was true. The weather was extremely hot, and I was tired.”
A photo shared by Mr. A shows 80 bundles of 2-liter water, weighing 12 kg each, stacked in front of a doorway. With 6 bottles of 2 liters per bundle, that totals 12 liters per bundle, and with 80 bundles, it equals 960 liters. The total weight is about 960 kg, nearly 1 ton.
Mr. A noted, “They said they returned it due to a mistake in the number of orders. The payment amount must have been enormous. It’s almost a 1-ton return. I think there should be the ability to refuse returns or a reasonable limit. What will the delivery and retrieval drivers do if there’s a return of 1 ton?”
One delivery driver who saw this commented, “Water is wasted when returned. Please be careful when buying water. A mistake by a finger causes many to suffer: the deliverer, the retrieval handler, the return handler, and the person who disposes of the waste after the return. Carrying and transporting it is no small task.”
