In the middle of the night, Coupang sold Nongshim Yukgaejang Cup Noodles for around 100 won each, and even guaranteed delivery until the next day, causing a rush of orders.
According to the industry on the 22nd, around 11 p.m. the previous day, Nongshim Yukgaejang Cup Noodles (36-pack) were sold for 5,040 won on Coupang Rocket Delivery. This is about 140 won each. Compared to the usual price of 27,200 won for 36, this is over 80% cheaper.
As this fact spread mainly through online communities, the order frenzy occurred. In one community, a post appeared claiming to have received 900 units in the early morning, along with verification of 9 boxes. Coupang noticed this and quickly returned the price to normal, but it seems that some were able to successfully place orders.
The cause of this incident was human error. The price of products managed by Coupang's Rocket Delivery was accidentally posted incorrectly due to a system error. Coupang stated that they would complete deliveries for items that had already been shipped or are in transit without charging consumers additional expenses. For orders that have not yet been shipped, they decided to cancel them and provide a Coupang cash credit of 5,000 won.
