Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Education Lee Joo-ho said, “Our government must make the APEC summit, held for the first time in 20 years, a success and utilize it as an opportunity to demonstrate our leadership on the international stage and enhance national credibility.”

The acting prime minister made this remark during a meeting of the ‘2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit Preparatory Committee’ held at the Government Seoul Building on the 22nd.

During this meeting, discussions were held on the results of the second senior officials meeting and sectoral ministerial meetings, as well as the appointment of an artistic director for cultural events. The status of preparations for the Aviation, Transportation, and Medical measures, along with the CEO meeting and the summit-business advisory meeting, was also checked.

The acting prime minister noted, “The upcoming APEC summit in Gyeongju will become a stage for diplomacy attended by major world leaders, attracting global attention,” adding, “Various agenda items such as artificial intelligence (AI), responses to demographic changes, and revitalization of trade and investment are expected to be discussed.”

He continued, “In particular, it is expected that not only leaders from the Asia-Pacific region but also key global economic figures will participate during the summit week,” and emphasized, “Ensure thorough preparations so that the CEO meeting, gathering global corporations, and the APEC business advisory committee meeting can serve as an opportunity to expand business networks.”
