A man and a woman accused of demanding money while claiming to be pregnant with the child of national soccer player Son Heung-min (33, Tottenham Hotspur) have been referred to the prosecution in custody.

The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced on the morning of the 22nd that it had sent a 20-year-old woman, Yang, who faces charges of extortion, and a 40-year-old man, Yong, who faces charges of attempted extortion, to the prosecution in custody.

Yang is accused of extorting 300 million won from Son last June by sending him ultrasound images of the fetus and threatening to expose the pregnancy. Yang later reportedly wrote a letter agreeing not to disclose the pregnancy to the outside.

Yong, Yang's boyfriend, is accused of attempting to receive 70 million won from Son's side when he approached them in March this year. Yang was known to have been in a relationship with Son and began dating Yong after breaking up with Son.

Earlier, Son's side filed a complaint against them with the police on the 7th. The Gangnam Police Station that received the complaint arrested the two on the 14th and conducted a search of their residence, seizing related materials such as mobile phones. The court issued arrest warrants for them on the 17th, citing concerns about evidence destruction and flight.
