Two days after the fire at the Kumho Tire factory in Gwangju was completely extinguished, embers rekindled, prompting firefighting authorities to take action.

According to Gwangju's Gwangsan District on the 22nd, around 5:40 p.m. that day, embers reignited while dismantling the building at the Kumho Tire factory in Gwangju. Although authorities declared the fire fully extinguished three days after it erupted on the 20th, they deployed firefighters who had been stationed there to consider the possibility of rekindling.

However, due to concerns about building collapse, firefighters are unable to get close to the embers, which is expected to delay the extinguishing efforts. The embers continue to burn using tire materials mixed with rubber and special materials, but firefighting authorities believe the possibility of fire spreading or additional damage occurring is low, aside from the smoke.

The fire at the Kumho Tire factory in Gwangju broke out around 7:11 a.m. on the 17th and was extinguished three days later, at 11:50 a.m. on the 20th.
