The contract between the meteorologist A, who was named as the perpetrator of workplace bullying against the late Oh Yoanna, and MBC has been terminated.
According to MBC on the 22nd, their contract was terminated on the 20th. This action follows the Ministry of Employment and Labor's announcement on the 19th, concluding that there had been bullying behavior against the deceased.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor released a conversation between the deceased and the perpetrator as an example of bullying behavior that was deemed unnecessary for work. For instance, when the deceased appeared on tvN’s 'You Quiz on the Block' representing MBC, a senior meteorologist publicly criticized, "What can you even say on 'You Quiz'?"
After the announcement, MBC stated on 'News Desk', "We take the Ministry of Employment and Labor's assessment that there was bullying against Ms. Oh Yoanna very seriously. We will improve the overall organizational culture along with measures for those involved," and apologized to the bereaved family.
The deceased worked as a meteorologist at MBC, but after suffering from the pain caused by workplace bullying, she took her own life last September. The bereaved family has filed a civil lawsuit against one individual identified as the perpetrator at the Seoul Central District Court.
