Taiwanese individuals who illegally photographed fighter jets at an airshow held at the U.S. Air Force base in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, have been turned over to prosecutors while in custody.
According to the Pyeongtaek Police Station, two Taiwanese nationals, a man in his 60s identified as A and another in his 40s identified as B, were arrested and sent to prosecutors on charges of violating the Military Facilities Protection Act on the 19th.
They are under suspicion of illegally photographing facilities and equipment inside the base using a camera equipped with a telephoto lens at the '2025 Osan Airshow' held at the U.S. Air Force base in Osan (K-55) around 10 a.m. on the 10th.
Typically, attendees at airshows are allowed to take photos freely, but the U.S. military had prohibited citizens from certain countries, including China and Taiwan, from entering this event.
However, A and others are reported to have secretly entered the airshow venue by mixing in with Korean nationals through the entrance designated for locals, despite being stopped three times by U.S. military personnel.
They were caught by police after a report was made while unlawfully photographing around the airshow venue. However, no evidence was found that A and others had distributed the photos externally.
It is not precisely known what scenes were captured by their photography.
