A Chinese national, Cha Cheol-nam (56), who killed two people and injured two others in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province, said he had no intention to kill the injured victim.
On the morning of the 21st at around 9:30 a.m., Cha Cheol-nam left the Siheung Police Station to attend a pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant review). When asked by reporters whether he had the intention to kill the convenience store owner and the landlord, he replied, "No." He nodded in response to a question asking if he committed the crime suddenly.
Cha Cheol-nam did not answer questions such as whether he had anything to say to the victims or what his relationship was with the victims, and boarded the transport vehicle.
The Suwon District Court Ansan Branch will conduct a warrant review on Cha Cheol-nam, who is facing charges of murder and attempted murder, at 11 a.m. The decision on whether to detain Cha Cheol-nam is expected to be made in the afternoon.
Earlier, on the afternoon of the 17th, Cha Cheol-nam was accused of killing two Chinese nationals, brothers in their 50s, with a blunt object at the residence in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung, where he lived and at the victims' residence.
Two days later, on the morning of the 19th, he stabbed a convenience store owner, a woman in her 60s, whom he usually frequented. Later that afternoon, he stabbed his landlord, a man in his 70s, at a sports park located 1.3 km from the convenience store. B and C are reported to be currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.
In police investigation, Cha Cheol-nam stated that he had lent about 30 million won to the brothers, A, multiple times since 2013, and committed the crime after they failed to repay him. He explained that he attacked convenience store owner B because "she spoke ill of me" and that he targeted landlord C because "he dismissed me."
