Lee Han-kyung, the head of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Disaster and Safety Management Headquarters, visited the construction site of the Sungin underpass in Jung-gu, Incheon, on the 21st to check the safety management situation.

The government has designated the period from June 14 to June 13 as the '2025 intensive safety inspection' period, conducting inspections targeting facilities prone to accidents such as underpasses.

The Deputy Minister assessed the risk of ground subsidence and collapse around the excavation area, as well as flood prevention measures, and noted, "It is important to establish an emergency response system even after the underpass is opened to prevent casualties from heavy rainfall." He added, "The government will strive to proactively eliminate the potential for disasters and accidents."
