On the 20th, the police applied for an arrest warrant for Cha Cheol-nam (56), a Chinese national who fled after killing two people and injuring two others in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province.

The Siheung Police Station stated that around 4:20 p.m. on the same day, they applied for an arrest warrant against Cha Cheol-nam on charges of murder and attempted murder.

Cha Cheol-nam is accused of killing a man in his 50s, identified as A, a fellow compatriot, on the afternoon of the 17th. He first killed A at A's residence in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung City, then went to A's brother's residence and killed his younger brother, B.

Afterward, on the morning of the 19th, he stabbed a 60-year-old female owner of a convenience store, C, with a knife at the convenience store he frequented. On the same afternoon, he stabbed his landlord, a 70-year-old male, D, with a knife at a sports park located 1.3 kilometers away from the convenience store. C and D are reported to be receiving treatment in intensive care.

Cha Cheol-nam and A were close friends. In the past, Cha Cheol-nam had lent A and his brother about 30 million won several times since 2013, and it was understood from police investigations that he planned the crime due to their failure to repay.

Cha Cheol-nam stated to the police that he committed the crime against store owner C because "she gossiped about me" and against landlord D because "he ignored me."
