The Ministry of Education announced on the 19th that it will hold the 4th discussion forum on glocal universities' innovation support at the government Sejong office on the 20th.
Glocal universities aim to break down barriers inside and outside the university and foster regional universities with global competitiveness in specialized fields. The plan is to support the mutual growth of regions and universities.
This discussion forum aims to address the difficulties faced by glocal universities in creating innovative models. A total of 20 innovation models (31 universities) have been designated so far, targeting the 10 designated last year (17 universities).
Daegu Haany University will participate in this 4th discussion forum. Daegu Haany University is pushing for the modernization of traditional medicine industry in collaboration with local healthcare institutions and industries.
Choi Eun-hee, head of the Ministry of Education's Talent Policy Office, noted, "Strengthening the global competitiveness of domestic universities has become essential rather than optional amid declining school-age populations and intensifying global competition," adding, "We will support the various innovative models proposed by glocal universities and boldly improve obstacles hindering this through regulatory exceptions and other systems."
