A worker in their 40s died after being caught in machinery at a Kia factory in Gwangju.
According to the Gwangju Western Police Station on the 16th, a report was received at around 6:06 p.m. that an "employee was caught in the machine" at the Kia Plant No. 3 located in Naebang-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju. The employee, who suffered a severe neck injury, was discovered by factory medical staff and given emergency treatment, but died after being transported to a nearby hospital in cardiac arrest.
It is reported that the incident occurred while inspecting the machinery that transports completed vehicles in the vehicle inspection line. Although other workers were present at the time of the accident, it seems that immediate response was difficult due to the characteristics of the line structure, which is managed by a single person.
Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident and whether safety management rules were followed through on-site inspection and witness accounts.
