The Korea Meteorological Administration announced that it will issue a heavy rain advisory for the northeastern and northwestern regions of Seoul starting at 4:20 p.m. on the 16th.
The affected areas include Nowon-gu, Seongbuk-gu, Jungnang-gu, Gwangjin-gu, Dongdaemun-gu, Dobong-gu, Gangbuk-gu, and Seongdong-gu in the northeastern region, and Eunpyeong-gu, Mapo-gu, Seodaemun-gu, Yongsan-gu, Jongno-gu, and Jung-gu in the northwestern region.
At the same time, a heavy rain warning was issued for Namyangju in Gyeonggi Province, while a heavy rain advisory was placed for Pocheon in Gyeonggi Province.
A heavy rain advisory is issued when it is predicted that the rainfall will exceed 60 millimeters in 3 hours or 110 millimeters in 12 hours. It is difficult to completely shield oneself from rain with an umbrella, and caution is needed as water levels in valleys or rivers may rise. A heavy rain warning is issued when 110 millimeters of rainfall is expected in 6 hours or over 180 millimeters in 12 hours.
The Korea Meteorological Administration noted that there will be places experiencing very heavy rain, particularly in the metropolitan area and Gangwon-do, and urged caution for facilities and crops, stating that there may be gusts, thunder, and lightning in areas experiencing rain.
This rain will continue until night and is expected to mostly cease by early morning tomorrow. The expected precipitation by early the next day is as follows: ▲Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi 5-40 millimeters (with some places exceeding 60 millimeters) ▲Gangwon 5-40 millimeters ▲Daejeon, Sejong, Chungnam 10-50 millimeters ▲Chungbuk 5-40 millimeters ▲Gwangju Metropolitan City, Jeonnam 20-60 millimeters (with some places exceeding 80 millimeters) ▲Jeonbuk 10-60 millimeters ▲Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam 20-60 millimeters (with some places exceeding 80 millimeters) ▲Daegu, Gyeongbuk 10-40 millimeters ▲Ulleungdo, Dokdo 5-20 millimeters ▲Jeju 20-80 millimeters (with northern Jeju 5-40 millimeters).
From the afternoon to evening the next day, it may rain again in the metropolitan area and inland mountainous regions of Gangwon. However, the expected precipitation will be less than 5 millimeters, indicating light rain. Additionally, there will be places in the central region and Jeonbuk where raindrops may fall until night.
The temperatures over the weekend are expected to be similar to or slightly above the average. On Saturday the 17th, the morning low will be 14-18 degrees, and the afternoon high will be 21-29 degrees. On Sunday the 18th, the morning low will be 8-17 degrees, and the afternoon high will be forecasted at 18-24 degrees.
