All five professional baseball games have been canceled due to heavy rain across the country.
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced that the professional baseball games scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. on the 16th between kt wiz and LG Twins (Jamsil), Samsung Lions and Lotte Giants (Busan), Doosan Bears and KIA Tigers (Gwangju), SSG Landers and Hanwha Eagles (Daejeon), and Kiwoom Heroes and NC Dinos (Ulsan) have all been canceled due to rain.
This is the first time this season that all five professional baseball games have been canceled due to rain. Rain started in the morning, and by the afternoon, it became heavier. Around 4:20 p.m., a heavy rain warning was issued for the metropolitan area, and with rain forecasted for later in the evening, all games were early postponed.
The games canceled that day will be played as a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. on the 17th at each stadium. The first game of the doubleheader will start at 2 p.m., with the second game following after a maintenance period of 40 minutes after the first game ends. A doubleheader refers to the system of scheduling two games in one day when a game is postponed due to rain.
Excluding Hanwha and Kiwoom, which played a three-game series unaffected by weather at Gocheok Sky Dome over the past weekend, the remaining eight teams will face a challenging schedule with doubleheaders for two consecutive weeks.
