Heavy rain in downtown Seoul has resulted in the closure of access to the Dorimcheon and Anyangcheon rivers.

On the afternoon of the 16th, Yangcheon District and Dongjak District in Seoul issued disaster text messages and announced access restrictions to the Dorimcheon and Anyangcheon rivers. The districts noted, "Nearby residents are advised to refrain from entering the rivers and to stay away from low-lying areas and underground tunnels prone to flooding."

The Korea Meteorological Administration issued a heavy rain warning for the southwestern part of Seoul effective at 5 p.m. The areas under the advisory include Gangseo District, Yangcheon District, Guro District, Yeongdeungpo District, Dongjak District, Gwanak District, and Geumcheon District. As of 8 a.m. that day, the rainfall amount ranged from 20 to 50 mm, with expected total rainfall for the day between 5 to 40 mm (more than 60 mm in some areas).

Earlier, at 4:20 p.m., a heavy rain warning was issued for the northeastern and northwestern parts of Seoul, as well as Pocheon in Gyeonggi Province. The areas under the advisory include Dobong District, Nowon District, Gangbuk District, Seongbuk District, Dongdaemun District, Jungnang District, Seongdong District, Gwangjin District, Eunpyeong District, Jongno District, Mapo District, Seodaemun District, Jung District, Yongsan District, and Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province. As of 8 a.m. that day, the rainfall amount ranged from 10 to 50 mm, with expected total rainfall for the day between 5 to 40 mm (more than 60 mm in some areas).

In addition to these areas, a heavy rain warning has also been issued for Namyangju in Gyeonggi Province effective at the same time. As of 8 a.m. that day, the rainfall amount ranged from 20 to 70 mm, with expected total rainfall for the day between 5 to 60 mm (more than 80 mm in some areas).

A Korea Meteorological Administration official said, "Very strong and widespread rain is expected," and urged caution against potential flooding from agricultural land inundation, overflow of irrigation channels, rapid currents and reservoir breaches, and flooding due to riverbank erosion.
