Acting President Lee Joo-ho, who also serves as the Minister of Education, met with National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik on the 15th to announce plans to strengthen security management for presidential candidates along with fair election oversight.

Acting President Lee met with Speaker Woo in the National Assembly that afternoon. This was the first meeting between Acting President Lee and Speaker Woo since Lee assumed the acting role on the 2nd.

During the meeting, Speaker Woo requested that the government thoroughly block illegal activities during the June 3 early presidential election and work to maintain the neutrality of public officials.

In response, Acting President Lee noted, "We will make every effort to ensure that this election is conducted fairly and cleanly, so that it can serve as an opportunity for national unity."

Additionally, Speaker Woo asked that the government consider actively supporting security requests from the candidates' teams regarding threats of terrorism against the candidates.

Acting President Lee said, "I have received reports that the police are responding well so far, but we cannot allow even the slightest chance of such situations occurring," and added, "I will thoroughly prepare to ensure that all necessary measures are taken to reinforce security for the candidates."
