A group has been apprehended by the police for allegedly demanding money from national soccer player Son Heung-min (33, Tottenham) while claiming to be pregnant with his child.
The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul stated on the 15th that they had arrested a woman in her 20s, identified as A, and a man in his 40s, identified as B, on charges of extortion and attempted extortion. A allegedly threatened Son last June by claiming she was pregnant, and B is accused of approaching Son's representatives in March this year to demand money.
Son's representatives filed a complaint against them with the police on the 7th of this month. The police applied for an arrest warrant on the 12th and received the warrant from the court the following afternoon.
Son's agency, Son and Football Limited, issued a statement through their official website on the same day, stating, "We have reported the group that has been threatening the player by spreading false information to the police on charges of extortion."
They added, "We will take strong legal action so that the group that has been extorting threats with obvious false information can be punished without leniency, and we want to emphasize that Son is a clear victim of this incident."
