Rapper Sik-K (31, birth name Kwon Min-sik), who received a suspended sentence on drug charges, is facing controversy as it has been revealed that he will perform at the summer festival "Waterbomb."
According to the relevant industry on the 15th, the organizers of "Waterbomb Seoul 2025" announced the grants lineup. Looking at the lineup, Sik-K is scheduled to take the stage on July 4.
Earlier, Sik-K voluntarily reported his drug use to a police officer working near the Seoul Regional Veterans Affairs Office in Yongsan District, Seoul, around 8:40 a.m. on Jan. 19 last year, asking, "Is this the police station?" He then underwent a police investigation. Following that, the prosecution, which received the case from the police, indicted Sik-K without detention in June of the same year.
According to the prosecution, Sik-K is accused of using ketamine and ecstasy from Oct. 1 to 9, 2023. He is also facing charges for smoking marijuana on Jan. 11 last year and possessing it on Jan. 13 of the same month.
On the 1st, the court sentenced Sik-K to 10 months in prison and 2 years of probation for violations of the Narcotics Control Act (marijuana) and ordered him to undergo probation and attend 40 hours of drug treatment lectures. The prosecution, which sought 3 years and 6 months, has appealed the verdict.
In this situation, as news emerged that Sik-K would perform at Waterbomb, fans' reactions have been mixed. It is difficult to avoid criticism in societal terms for continuing activities without reflection after drug use or performing at a large festival attracting various age groups while still under trial.
Sik-K debuted in August 2015 with the single "My Man." He gained fame by participating in the Mnet survival program "Show Me the Money Season 2 and 4." In particular, he established his presence under the domestic hip-hop crew AOMG's Higher Music.
