A post by a man who threatened to kill the parents who gave him short stature has sparked controversy on a Seoul National University graduate bulletin board.
On the 13th, an online community shared a screenshot of a post from the graduation bulletin board of Everytime, an anonymous university student community, posted on the 10th. The post was written by a male graduate presumed to be a Seoul National University graduate, under the title “Please ask your friends to introduce me some girls, Mom X (156cm).”
Mr. A expressed his frustration, saying, “Even without asking, my friends tried to set me up on blind dates knowing I'm a ‘mosol’ (a term for someone who has never dated), but I was turned down because of my height (167cm). Then all my dad (165cm) could say was ‘Dump such girls,’ which ticks me off.”
Furthermore, Mr. A added, “If nothing else, before I die, I'm determined to dismember my dad.”
Other graduates who saw this commented with responses like, “You should see a doctor, seriously,” “The issue isn’t your height,” and “You're the only one who doesn't realize it's not about height.” Mr. A likened his parents passing on their height to a crime. He argued, “How would you feel if someone committed an unspeakable crime against you, leaving you with PTSD for life, and then shamelessly tells you to overcome it?”
In response, another student said, “It’s not because you’re short. Your dad is only 165cm but still got married and had a child.” Mr. A replied with the absurd remark, “It was a time when even rapists could get married.”
Mr. A further added harsh comments like, “Go to the Gangnam street on weekends, and it’s rare to see even one short guy with a girlfriend in two hours,” “It would be more necessary to cut up my mom and dad with a chainsaw,” and “Disabled people have welfare but short guys are worse off than the disabled. XX.”
Netizens left comments such as, “Women aren't looking at height but at such a personality,” “Honestly, if you have some personality and looks, you can cover the height. A degree from Seoul National University would seal the deal,” “It’s obvious it’s not because of the height but only you think so,” and “Who would date someone like that?”
