Yoon & Yang LLC announced on the 12th that it hired expert in international mergers and acquisitions, Senior Foreign Attorney Ryu Myung-hyun (New York State, USA), on the 8th.
Ryu obtained a Doctor of Juridical Science degree from Vanderbilt Law School in Tennessee, USA, in 2001 after majoring in political science and diplomacy at Sogang University, and acquired his attorney license in New York State in 2002. He worked at Woobang, the predecessor of Yoon & Yang LLC, from 2001 to 2004, and served as a Senior Foreign Attorney at Shin & Kim LLC from 2008 until recently.
For the past 24 years, he has successfully completed various "cross-border M&A (mergers and acquisitions between companies of different nationalities)" in over 50 countries in North America, Europe, and Asia. He has led transactions in corporate internal investigations and anti-corruption due diligence, including private equity (PE), venture capital, joint ventures (JV), and the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).
Ryu has advised major domestic corporations on their M&A, including Hanwha's acquisition of SolarOne (now Qcells), KCC Consortium's acquisition of the U.S.-listed company Momentive, CJ CheilJedang's acquisition of the U.S. company Schwans, Lotte Duty Free's acquisition of Australia's JR Duty Free, and SD Biosensor's acquisition of the U.S.-listed company Meridian. He has also successfully conducted inbound transactions for foreign companies, including the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation's (GIC) equity acquisition in Starbucks Korea, advising Woowa Brothers, and investments from Sequoia, Aspex, and DST Global in Market Kurly.
