The third hearing on former President Yoon Suk-yeol's charges of leading a rebellion will be held at 10:15 a.m. on the 12th at the Seoul Central District Court. On this day, former President Yoon's appearance in court will be publicly revealed for the first time.
The 25th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court (presided over by Director General Ji Gwi-yeon) will hold the hearing on the charges against former President Yoon at 10:15 a.m. on this day in Courtroom 417. The defendant is required to appear at the hearing, so it is expected that former President Yoon will attend the court, just as he did during the first and second hearings held on the 14th and 21st of last month.
The court has arranged for former President Yoon to enter through the main entrance of the west wing of the Seoul Court Complex during the third hearing. In the previous first and second hearings, he was allowed to enter through the underground entrance.
Accordingly, there is a possibility that former President Yoon will stand at the photo line when he appears in court on this day. The photo line is a space where a defendant attending a trial can respond to questions from the media and allow for photo and video captures.
It is noteworthy whether former President Yoon will express his stance directly at the photo line. However, considering security circumstances, he may enter the courtroom directly without making any remarks. Former President Yoon has never stood at the photo line when attending the Constitutional Court impeachment reviews or the court trials regarding allegations of rebellion.
On this day, the third hearing on the rebellion charges will include witness examinations of Park Jeong-hwan (49th class of the Korea Army Academy, brigadier general), the chief of staff of the Special Warfare Command, and Oh Sang-bae, the aide to the commander of the Capital Defense Command. They are expected to testify regarding the military orders and the situation on site during the state of emergency on December 3.
Meanwhile, this trial is the first to be held since former President Yoon was additionally indicted on charges of interfering with the exercise of authority on the 2nd. The court merged this case with the rebellion charges the day after the prosecution's indictment.
