The Ministry of Interior and Safety announced on the 11th that it will conduct the '2025 Disaster Response Safety Korea Training' from the 12th to the 23rd.
This year's training will be conducted by 103 agencies. In the first half of the year, the focus will be on natural disasters such as typhoons and earthquakes, while in the second half, it will center on social disasters such as fires and wildfires.
In particular, this training will involve the actual operation of equipment like pumps and underwater pumps to enhance on-site response capabilities, and local residents will participate directly in evacuation and emergency recovery training.
The Korea Forest Service plans to conduct evacuation training for residents following landslide forecasts and educate citizens on emergency action guidelines in conjunction with Chungcheongnam-do and Geumsan-gun to prepare for landslide disasters.
Korea Water Resources Corporation will conduct training to prepare for dam failure scenarios caused by earthquakes in collaboration with Jeollabuk-do and Imsil-gun. This will include evacuation training for downstream residents and damage assessment and emergency recovery using drones and remotely operated unmanned submersibles.
Korea Expressway Corporation will conduct training to prepare for complex disaster situations resulting from the collapse of road slopes due to heavy rain, which can lead to vehicle entrapment, chain collisions, and oil spills.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior and Safety has decided to make disaster training mandatory for 58 local governments, including Paju and Iksan, that have been declared special disaster areas due to natural disasters over the last three years. However, training will be canceled or postponed in areas such as Andong, Uiseong, and Ulju where wildfire damage has occurred.
Additionally, the Ministry of Interior and Safety noted that it plans to evaluate the training processes of each agency centered around 125 members of the 5th Central Evaluation Team for Disaster Preparedness Training, composed of private experts.
