The Korea Meteorological Administration reported that two earthquakes, measuring 3.3 and 2.5, occurred consecutively in Yeoncheon County, Gyeonggi Province, on the afternoon of the 10th.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, a 3.3 magnitude earthquake occurred around 1:19 p.m. in Yeoncheon County, 5 kilometers northeast.
Following that, a 2.5 magnitude earthquake struck around 2:59 p.m. in Yeoncheon County, 4 kilometers northeast.
The epicenter's depth was estimated to be 9 kilometers for the first earthquake and 8 kilometers for the second.
There are expectations that residents in Gyeonggi and northern Gangwon provinces may have felt the tremors.
In the case of the first earthquake, the maximum intensity measured regionally was 4 in Gyeonggi, 3 in Gangwon, and 2 in Incheon.
A measurement of intensity 4 means "many people indoors feel it, and items such as dishes and windows shake." Intensity 3 means "people on upper floors of buildings feel it noticeably, and stationary vehicles shake slightly," while intensity 2 refers to "only a few individuals on upper floors or in quiet places feeling it."
The second earthquake had an intensity of 2 in Gyeonggi.
According to the fire authorities, within 10 minutes of the first earthquake, a total of 12 reports were received of tremors: 3 in Seoul, 3 in Incheon, and 6 in Gyeonggi. However, there were no reports of damages caused by the earthquake.
