YouTuber Tzuyang (real name Park Jeong-won) appeared at the police for the first time on the 8th after a change in the investigation team. Park has filed a complaint against Kim Se-eui, the head of the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute, for charges including stalking and intimidation.
Park arrived at the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul around 9:20 a.m. that day and said, “I believe you will conduct the investigation fairly. I will tell the truth as it is.”
When asked if there was an intention to refuse the investigation again depending on the attitude of the investigators, Tzuyang’s legal representative, Attorney Kim Tae-yeon, said, “Not this time,” and added, “We will proceed with the investigation well today and come out.”
Earlier, on the 16th of last month, Park appeared at the police for questioning as a complainant. However, citing doubts about the investigation team’s willingness to investigate, the questioning was suspended and she came out after about 40 minutes. Subsequently, the police reallocated the investigation team from the existing Criminal Investigation Division 1 and Investigation Division 2 to the Criminal Investigation Division 2.
Kim was sued for disclosing Tzuyang’s private life and coercing clarifications regarding allegations of tax evasion, while repeatedly posting Tzuyang’s photos and posts, which constituted the creation of anxiety under the Information and Communications Network Act, intimidation, coercion, and violations of the Stalking Penalty Act.
In response, the police made a decision not to refer Kim to the prosecution in February due to insufficient evidence. However, the Seoul Central Prosecutor’s Office accepted Tzuyang’s objection in March, instructing supplementary investigations, and the police began a re-investigation of the case.
